Prof. Dr.-Ing Georg Sigl’s research covers hardware security, i.e. the design of secure circuits and embedded systems as well as the research on new hardware attacks. Georg Sigl finished his PhD in Electrical Engineering at Technical University of Munich in 1992. Afterwards he held several positions in research and development at Siemens and Infineon. From 2000 until 2010 he was responsible for the development of new secure microcontroller platforms in the Chip Card and Security division. Under his responsibility, two awardwinning platforms have been designed.

In June 2010, he founded the Chair of Security in Information Technology at Technical University of Munich. In parallel, he is driving embedded secure research as director at the Fraunhofer Research Institute for Applied and Integrated Security in Munich (AISEC). Prof. Sigl is member of IEEE and VDE and serves as an associated editor for the IEEE Transactions in Information Forensics and Security.
